Metroid prime 4 press release5/1/2023 ![]() ![]() There is currently no release date for Metroid Prime 4. With that said, here’s everything that we know about Retro Studios’ Metroid Prime 4: Metroid Prime 4 Release Date While it might be a long time before we see Metroid Prime 4, here’s hoping that the game we get will be worth the wait. The team is led by original Metroid Prime trilogy producer Kensuke Tanabe. Former DICE art director Jhony Ljungstedt ( Battlefield 5, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst) has joined former Halo lead character artist Kyle Helfey, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze lead designer Stephen Dupree. The team that Retro has built around Metroid Prime 4 is pretty impressive, too. While this delay is most certainly unfortunate, we’ve seen what happens when other studios get Metroid games wrong, and the results are not pretty. Many people hoped that Retro would be the developer to work on Metroid Prime 4 in the first place. The studio has proven that it understands what makes this series special and what makes Metroid Primetitles work. While that does mean that Metroid Prime 4 is going to be delayed even further, it’s actually kind of hard to not see this as somewhat encouraging news. Developer Retro Studios ( Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze) was responsible for the first three Metroid Prime games. However, it was widely speculated that Bandai Namco had been given the task. What’s fascinating about this is that Nintendo never confirmed who was working on Metroid Prime 4 prior to this recent announcement. So, the wait continues. Why would Nintendo just restart the development of one of its most anticipated new games? The company didn’t share all of the details, but it indicated during the video announcement that the game just wasn’t living up to the expectations it had set for this franchise. Nintendo hasn't announced firm plans around their E3 showing, only stating that they would be doing the same as they had in previous years. It could well be that Retro was working on the Trilogy before kicking things off properly with the Metroid Prime 4, so it's possible that we get to see the reality of the trilogy sooner than later. These kinds of listings can just be speculation, but they can also prove to be a good way of finding out information well ahead of time. This was, in no small part, thanks to a retailer listed the game on their website in December and then again in March. There are still rumour floating around about a Metroid Prime Trilogy collection being released on the Switch. They were the leads on the original Metroid Prime back in 2002 and have a history of producing some truly excellent titles including the likes of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. It is also good to know that Retro is in charge of the game again. Hopefully, these job postings mean that things are really ramping up now and we can expect to see the game near the end of next year. It is always better to know what is going on than to have to guess. It is definitely better for companies to be open about this kind of thing. The fact that they were so open about restarting the project in the first place should be reassuring and help assuage any worries from the fans. However, Nintendo has always been of the stance that it is better to delay a game than release a bad one. Given the tumultuous development of the game so far you might be inclined to think the game will be bad upon release. They are also hiring for a number of other positions like a Lead Character Artist and Lead Cinematics Artist. One of the main jobs they are aiming to fill is for an Art Director, which is a big deal. Announcing that Retro Studios - the company in charge of Metroid Prime 4 - are still looking for a variety of different people for this game. Well, it looks like the game is still in the formative stages if this tweet is anything to go by. It was restarted after Nintendo decided what had been made so far wasn't up to their standards. It has even been rebooted since then and the studio in charge of it has changed too. Aside from that very little has been seen regarding the game. Metroid Prime 4 was very very briefly teased by Nintendo back at E3 2017 with a very brief glimpse of a logo for the game. While she may be the best bounty hunter in existence, her appearance on the Switch is nowhere near being ready. It looks like fans of Samus Aran are going to be left waiting a fair while longer.
